Mount Vernon in the background; Expressive and Cousin E--- |
The
home of George Washington.
This
was a beautiful stop. We went through the grounds, helped separate the chaff
from some wheat, went to the wharf, and went through the wonderful home.
The
Potomac, which the house overlooks, was so lovely. I am going to miss the big
rivers when I get home to Utah.
Then
we went through a museum. That was pretty cool.
We
met Washington…
…a
few of them!
IT
WAS HUGE!
We
went to J.F.K’s gravesite. The amount of graves was staggering.
I
took some darling pictures of Ruby at the monument to the Unknown Soldier.
We
watched a changing of the guard, which was a solemn, thrilling sight.
The
Jefferson Memorial is stunning, even though we had to walk about a mile (we
parked REALLY far away).
I
had fun with the camera, the sunset, the pillars, the river and the kids. So
you might have to endure a lot of pictures…
Then
we went home and had ice cream and (delicious) cake.
It
was a good end to the day.
