“What did we do yesterday?”
That’s how a blog post starts. I always
have to ask a few people to make sure I remember it all.
It’s a good thing I am writing this all
down, or else it would all be a jumble of houses, fields and information.
When I asked that question a few moments
ago, this is the answer I got:
“I dunno. What was yesterday?”
At least until I asked Mom and Radiant.
We spent night in Leesburg last night,
about an hour from Gettysburg.
We had a really slow start. We had to shop
and do some stuff like that.
We FINALLY got to Gettysburg around one
o’clock.
Then we didn’t know what to do. So we stood
around for a while, debating different options, then we headed back to the
motorhome; it was lunch time.
What ended up happening is that Mom, Auntie
and the kids had down time in the motorhome, while Dad, Emergent and I went
into the visitor’s center.
First, we went to a very fabulous show that
helped us understand the battle better. The activity that ensued when the show
was finished was a unique one.
A Cyclorama.
In other words, a painting that goes all
the way around a wall in a circular room.
I loved being able to see and identify
parts of the battlefield.
When we finished viewing the aforementioned
painting (or rather, got kicked out), we walked into the museum there. I don’t
think I really got the full experience there. We were a little bit hurried, and
I was very much lost and disoriented. It took me a while to find the exit, and I
still don’t think I saw, much less understood, most of the exhibits.
As soon as we were done with dinner and had
cleaned up, we went over to the swimming pool at the campground. We got there
and a lady tells us the pool closes in ten minutes!
SPLASH!!
(that was the sound of us all jumping in)
(that was the sound of us all jumping in)
We
all jumped in right away when we heard that. We didn’t really swim, just got
wet.
