This morning we went to the actual battle
field for Gettysburg. We had this audio tour that told us where to go, and then
told us details of what happened there.
I think I’m kind of weird (I know what
you’re thinking; “it took you this long to figure that out?!?”)
I don’t think most people would have
enjoyed that. After all, most teenagers aren’t supposed to care about anything
but social networking.
But I absolutely LOVED IT.
There was a deep, abiding satisfaction in
having the stories refreshed in my memory, but this time being able to see and
touch.
My two favorite stories in Gettysburg are
the stories of the desperate defense of Little Round Top by Colonel Chamberlain,
and Pickett’s Charge.
I was able to see both of those
battlefields.
I loved Gettysburg!!!
Milton S. Hershey.
Ring a bell?
It should if you have ever had a Hershey’s
chocolate bar.
We went to Hershey, Pennsylvania. We went
to the museum, and learned about how chocolate is made, and the start of the
Hershey business.
It was fantastic, fun – and sweet.
